SGFOA Memorial
Fund
Formerly the Johnny Hill Scholarship, the SGFOA, created this fund
in memory of its founders and past members that had a significant
impact in the Southwest Florida community in addition
to officiating.
Every year the SGFOA awards a one time $500.00
scholarship to a deserving senior from one of the football programs
served by the SGFOA. This senior student has demonstrated
team spirit as well as good
sportsmanship and has a need for financial assistance with
their first year college expenses.
The 2008-2009 recipient of the SGFOA Memorial Fund was Sakariye
Yonis from Mariner High School. He will be attending Florida Gulf
Coast University this fall.
Tuesday, September 8, 2009 the SGFOA donated $750 to the Children's
Cancer Center at Health Park Hospital to benefit Barbara's friends.
In addition to the donation, $250 worth of pink whistle will be
purchased for the 2009 Calling for a Cure campaign to benefit the
American Cancer Society.
Saturday, October 17, 2009, the SGFOA participated in the Ft.
Myers Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5k. Together we raised
over $2,000 to be used in SWFL to help patients fighting their
battle with cancer.
